CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #228 and A Little Experimentation

Happy Friday!! I hope everyone is relaxing and is anticipating their holiday weekend. This post is a little photo heavy, so I apologize in advance!!

Busy day at our household. Had a new front window put in. Thank goodness I had the forethought of bringing Zack to the groomers or he would have freaked out with the men in our house!!!

The window looks fabulous but it forces us to re-paint our living room. Since we have not painted it for eight years, I am not crying about that. Chris on the other hand is not happy as he is the painter in the household!!

At the same time the window was being put in, Chris ripped apart the bathroom to repaint it. It is not going to be easy because it is presently red. That is a tough color to paint over.

Our kitchen is filled with boxes of stuff, as well as the pulled apart cupboard that housed our towels and medicine cabinet. We are having company tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how we can clean all this mess up before they come!!

Amongst all this chaos, I had a chance to play with some supplies that I have had sitting waiting for me to use. It was in stages because things had to dry but it was the most fun I have had in a long time.

On my first card I played with Ranger Oxide Inks in Cracked Pistachio, Wilted Violet, Broken China, and Faded Jeans. I have NOT been very successful with these inks in the past but I had fun doing layers and layers with the "smoosh" technique. I used both a piece of watercolor paper and then tried it on a piece of card stock. Both were successful but I think that the watercolor paper took the ink better.

On the white card stock piece, I used the Hero Arts “Peacock Feather” Stencil with some Nuvo “Mother of Pearl” Embellishment Mousse over the inked background. I LOVE this Nuvo Mousse!!! It didn't warp the paper and gave the front a really fun, shiny look!!

When the front was dry, I die cut it with the "Stitched Slopes and Hills" from Simon Says Stamp so I could play along with the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #228.

After I cut the panels, I adhered it to the smooshed watercolor paper. I adhered the Hero Arts Prayers” die cut and a stamped sentiment below from the matching stamp set.

I then covered the "prayers" with sparkle pen and used Glossy Accents over that. The last step was to adhere the sequins.

This was way out of the box for me and I am not totally sold on how it looks. However, it was a lot of fun to play with.

That is all from me today. Have a fabulous night!!

CAS(E) this Sketch #227

Happy Tuesday!! Busy day here. Had to go to the dentist today to get measured for a retainer. Who knew at 48 that my teeth would start moving and I would need worry about my teeth shifting back to a pre-braces spot. I feel like a teen again!!

I also had to bring Zack to the vet. He has not been himself as of late. We are no sooner outside on a walk when he starts panting and cannot keep up with us. (He has been trained to walk by our right side.) Zack also limps a little when he gets up.

He is at least 9 (not totally sure because he is a rescue dog) and I know things do get slower with age. I just don't like to see him like this. They gave him some antibiotics and hopefully these will help make him feel better.

Enough about life!!

Today I am sharing a card I created for CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #227. This came together quick because most of the supplies were right on my desk.

I started off by covering a white, A2, top folding card with a scrap of patterned paper. I then layered a rectangle I had embossed over the front, as per the sketch below.

Next I die cut three frames out of white card stock using My Favorite Things "Pierced Rectangle" frames dies. I adhered them together and placed them over the top of the embossed paper.

I then stamped a sentiment from My Favorite Things "Geometric Greenery" onto a white banner that I had die cut using MFTs "Fishtail Flags Frames" Die-namics. I added it to the card front using foam adhesive.

I adhered a white Simon Says Stamp "Tiny Tags" die cut that was on my desk over the flag and covered that with a Memory Box's "Rhone Butterfly Wings" that I had die cut for a previous project and never used.

To finish off the card, I covered the body and the wings of the butterfly with "Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle Marker." I thought that the body melted in to the butterfly a bit too much so I then covered it with Diamond” Stickles.

That is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS day!!

Busy Weekend and a Inspired by the Little Things #62

Happy Sunday!! This weekend was pretty busy with family. My nephew had a high school graduation party on Saturday and today we went to a memorial mass for my step-grandmother, and then out to breakfast with my sister's family. Now I need a nap!!

Today I am playing with Inspired by the Little Things Challenge #62. They are taking a break for the summer so I wanted to make sure that I did this challenge. I took the inspiration photo kind of literally.

Can you tell what I was inspired by now looking at the image?

I used Pretty Pink Posh's Rainy Days” and Rainy Days Additions” stamp sets for my card. There is a ton of masking that I could not have done without my MISTI tool.

I chose to use the houndstooth umbrella because it is one of my FAVORITE patterns. Who doesn't like a nice houndstooth scarf or pair of pants? They are a classic. With a little color-WOW!! (You might not think so but I do!!)

I then die cut the panel using My Favorite Things Die-namics Blueprints #27 and mounted it on some MFT “Lemon Drop” Card Stock, using fun foam. I completed the card by adhering some clear sequins in various sizes and added a dot of Diamond” Stickles for some added shine.

Well that is all from me. Have a fabulous night!!

MFT Camp Create -Divine Dry Embossing and Spectacular Shakers

Happy Wednesday!!

Today I am back again with some more for My Favorite Thing's "Camp Create."

I have been attempting to do these challenges-some are more successful then others. I created a galaxy background for the first challenge-was going to throw it out and then my daughter told me she liked it. Have yet to figure out how to make a card out of it, though.

I did create a card for Day 3's "Spectacular Shaker" challenge.

I am going to be honest-I HATE making shaker cards. No matter what I do, I never like it. I used the technique from the video with the foam and could not get it to line up properly. Couldn't line up the foam right in the middle and the sides fit with the card stock when I originally measured it but not when I put it together.

I used a retired MFT die "Rock and Roll" for the guitar and star die cut, as well as "Blue Prints #13" for the stitched rectangle. The sentiment is from a Simon Says Stamp" retired stamps set.

Supplies:
(affiliate links used when possible)
Paper-Neenah Solar White 110 lb white paper, Gray Bazzill, "Papaya" card stock, "Kraft" card stock, Hero Arts Acetate
Dies-My Favorite Things "Rock and Roll Die-namics" (retired), Blue Prints #13
Stamps-Simon Says Stamp!

I created a card for the "Camp Create" bonus round "Divine Dry Embossing."

This card I actually LIKE!!! I embossed the background with MFT's "Die-namics Hugs & Kisses" Cover Up die.

I then die cut it with MFT's "Blue Prints #13." I used a sheep from "Ewe are the Best" stamp set that I had colored in with Copic Markers.

The sentiment is from MFT's "LJD Celebrate With Cake" stamp set. I then added some die cut clouds with a sun peeking out.

I added a bit of Clear Spectrum Sparkle marker on some elements from the card as a finishing touch.

Well that is all from me today. I hope you have a FABULOUS day. Thank you for stopping by!!
